Senior Executive Team
George M. Marcus is the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Marcus & Millichap Company. Founded in 1971, MMC is the parent company of a diversified family of real estate service, investment, and development firms. Included in the Marcus & Millichap family of companies are Pacific Urban Investors, SummerHill Homes, SummerHill Apartment Communities, and Meridian Property Company. Another affiliated company is MMC Technology Ventures (formerly Marcus & Millichap Venture Partners), which invests in real estate technology companies. Mr. Marcus is also the Founder and Chairman of Essex Property Trust (ESS) and Marcus & Millichap, Inc. (MMI), both publicly traded companies. ESS is a best-in-class Real Estate Investment Trust, a leader, and a pathfinder in the industry. MMI went public in October of 2013 and is a leading firm specializing in commercial real estate sales, financing, research, and advisory services, with more than 80 offices throughout the United States and Canada.
Mr. Marcus’ professional memberships include the University of California Berkeley Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics, Real Estate Roundtable, and Urban Land Institute, as well as numerous other professional and community organizations. These include International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), United Religions Initiative (URI), and Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST). He also sits on the Board of Directors of the UCSF Foundation, is an Emeritus Board Member of the Corporation of Fine Arts Museums (COFAM) where he served on the development committee that built the de Young Museum in San Francisco and is a Regent Emeritus of the University of California. Furthermore, he was one of the founders of Greater Bay Bancorp and sat on its Board of Directors until Wells Fargo acquired it.
Mr. Marcus graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from San Francisco State University in 1965. He was honored as Alumnus of the Millennium in 1999 and received his honorary doctorate in 2011. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School President’s Management Program and the Georgetown University Leadership Program.
Mr. Lorenz acts as Chief Investment Officer of Marcus & Millichap Company and his role involves him in the investment activities of all of MMC’s operating companies. Mr. Lorenz first joined MMC in 1997 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Marcus & Millichap Company, he was CFO for Bedford Property Investors, a publicly traded REIT that owns office and industrial properties in the Western United States.
Mr. Kennis serves as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Marcus & Millichap Company. He has over 30 years of experience in real estate law, including Bronson, Bronson and McKinnon and Consolidated Capital. Mr. Kennis is responsible for legal matters, corporate compliance, and risk management. He is a graduate of the University of California and received his J.D. from the University of California at Davis and a Master of Law (LLM) from New York University. Additionally, Mr. Kennis is a member of the California Bar.
Mr. Bedrosian serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Marcus & Millichap Company and is responsible for overseeing the entire finance function, including accounting, capital markets, taxation, and treasury. He also serves as a member of the Company’s Investment Committee. Mr. Bedrosian has considerable experience advising private and public companies globally.
Prior to joining Marcus & Millichap Company, he was the Chief Financial Officer at Ramco-Gershenson Properties Trust, a publicly traded REIT. Mr. Bedrosian also served as a Managing Director in the Global Real Estate Investment Banking Group at Deutsche Bank Securities where he advised and managed the execution of over $50 billion of both domestic and international public and private capital raising transactions. Mr. Bedrosian earned a B.S. in Finance from Mercy College and an M.S. in Real Estate Finance and Investment from New York University.
Ms. de Mesa is the Chief Human Resources Officer for Marcus & Millichap Company. In her role, she leads the Human Resources and Payroll Department for all operating companies and manages the Company’s reputable Venture Associate Program. Ms. de Mesa has over 18 years of experience in Human Resources from companies within the San Francisco Bay Area including AMB/Prologis. Additionally, she spent several years in global HR Operations/Shared Services, Payroll, Employee Relations, and Talent Development. Ms. de Mesa earned an M.S. degree in Human Resources Management from Golden Gate University where she also served as an Adjunct Professor in M.S. Human Resources Management for over ten years.
William A. Millichap, co-founder of Marcus & Millichap Inc. (NYSE: MMI), joined the company, called G.M. Marcus Company at the time, as an investment broker shortly after its founding in 1971. His career progressed rapidly. After becoming regional manager of the Palo Alto office in the mid-1970s, he went on to be president and a director of MMI from 1985 to 2000 and was co-chairman of the board until his passing in June 2020.
Mr. Millichap was also the managing partner of MMC Technology Ventures (MMCT) (formerly known as Marcus & Millichap Venture Partners). In his role as managing partner, Mr. Millichap was the founder of AllApartments.com, which was acquired by Homestore; Homestore went public shortly after the acquisition. Under his leadership, MMCT also invested in Loopnet and REIS Reports both of which went public. MMCT was also an early investor in Multifamily Technology Solutions which was acquired by RealPage (RP, NASDAQ) in 2011. Mr. Millichap served on the board of directors of all four entities.
Furthermore, he served on the board of directors of Essex Property Trust (ESS, NYSE) from 1994 to 2009 and on the board of directors of the Mid-Peninsula Bank of Commerce. Mr. Millichap was also one of the founders of San Jose National Bank. He served on the executive committee board of directors of the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC) and was the Chairman of the Political Action Committee for the NMHC. He was also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Urban Land Institute, and the National Venture Capital Association. Mr. Millichap received a B.S. in Economics from the University of Maryland and served as an officer in the United States Navy prior to joining George Marcus in 1971.

Mr. Pace is Vice-chairman and CEO of Pacific Urban Investors (formerly Pacific Urban Residential), a Marcus & Millichap Company affiliate. He is a graduate of the University of San Francisco and a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).
Mr. Pace spent fourteen years with multifamily pension fund advisor SSR Realty Advisors (now BlackRock) and its predecessor configurations (Fox, Metric, etc.) culminating in the position of Managing Director, National Acquisitions. Pension advisory clients included CalPERS, CalSTRS, the Alaska Permanent Fund, the City and County of San Francisco, Colorado PERA, and others.
Since 1986, Mr. Pace has been both an investment advisor and principal in the acquisition of apartment communities. Mr. Pace is a thirty-year member and Executive Director of the National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC), actively engaged in issues impacting the Multifamily industry. In addition, Mr. Pace sits on the Multifamily Blue Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
Mr. Gardner is President of Pacific Urban Investors (‘PUI;’ formerly Pacific Urban Residential), a Marcus & Millichap Company affiliate. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day activities, as well as the acquisition and disposition activity, Mr. Gardner is responsible for the strategic direction of PUI. He is also a member of the Investment Committee. He holds a B.S. from Babson College and an M.B.A. from the University of Miami.
Since joining PUI in 1999, Mr. Gardner has also held the position of Acquisition Director, Acquisition Manager, and Acquisitions / Due Diligence Analyst. Prior to joining PUI, Mr. Gardner conducted financial and strategic analysis of new business ventures as a Corporate Finance Associate with Marcus and Millichap Company and held a position with the investment banking firm Morgan Stanley.
Mr. Yarmolinsky serves as President of Structured Finance for Pacific Urban Investors ('PUI'). In this role, he has oversight responsibility for PUI's Structured Finance group. Mr. Yarmolinsky previously served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Marcus Millichap Company, PUI's parent company. He joined Marcus and Millichap Company in 2005 and was responsible for overseeing the entire finance function of MMC, including real estate finance, accounting, taxation, and treasury. Since 2010, Mr. Yarmolinsky has also served on MMC’s Board of Directors and Investment Committee.
Prior to joining Marcus and Millichap Company, Mr. Yarmolinsky worked in public accounting at Burr, Pilger and Mayer, where he began his career in 1999. Mr. Yarmolinsky received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco and holds a Master of Science from Golden Gate University. Mr. Yarmolinsky is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and a full member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He also serves on Tax Committees for The Real Estate Roundtable and the National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC).
Robert Freed, CEO SummerHill Housing Group: SummerHill Homes & SummerHill Apartment Communities. Robert oversees critical areas of development for residential, and apartment communities. Currently, Robert is leading 32 projects representing over 6,500 units in the Bay Area, Southern California, and Washington.

Mr. Neighbor is President of SummerHill Homes. A second-generation homebuilder, Mr. Neighbor started his career in the family business and brings more than 24 years of experience to his role at SummerHill Homes. Mr. Neighbor joined SummerHill Homes in 2008 and is responsible for the Company’s homebuilding business. Prior to becoming President, Mr. Neighbor was Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President for SummerHill Housing Group, where he oversaw acquisitions for both SummerHill Homes and SummerHill Apartment Communities.
Before joining SummerHill Homes, Mr. Neighbor served as Vice President of Investment Management for MacFarlane Partners in San Francisco, where he was responsible for oversight of the firm’s single-family residential, land and housing developments. Mr. Neighbor was also Vice President of Acquisitions, Planning and Development for KB Home.
Mr. Neighbor is an Advisory Board Member of the Fisher Center Policy Advisory Board, on the Board of Directors for HomeAid Northern California, and a Board of Trustee Member for the California Homebuilding Foundation. Mr. Neighbor, who earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management from California State University, Chico, is a licensed real estate broker in California. During his career, Mr. Neighbor has been responsible for the development of over 10,000 homes in Northern California.
Mr. McDonald is the President of SummerHill Apartment Communities. In this position, he is directly responsible for Land Acquisition, Entitlements, Design and Construction, Asset Management, Asset Disposition, and Finance. He has been with SummerHill since 2001. Before assuming his current role, Mr. McDonald held the COO and CFO roles for SummerHill Apartment Communities and the CFO role for SummerHill Homes. As CFO, he secured nearly $2.5 Billion in project-level construction debt and equity capital.
Prior to joining SummerHill Homes, Mr. McDonald was Manager of Strategy and Business Architecture for Accenture in San Francisco. He was also Division Controller – Carolinas for Pulte Homes and Supervising Senior Accountant for KPMG Peat Marwick, both of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mr. McDonald is a former certified public accountant. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration – Finance and a Master of Accounting degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. McDonald also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan – Stephen M. Ross School of Business, where he graduated with distinction and received the annual Innovation Award. Mr. McDonald is a member of the National Association of Home Builders – Multifamily Leadership Board and is involved with other notable industry and charitable organizations.
Mr. Conn is the Chief Executive Officer at Meridian Property Company. With more than 25 years of experience in construction, real estate, and development, Mr. Conn is responsible for all aspects of development, including site acquisition, entitlements, joint ventures, deal structuring, and execution. He oversees the sourcing and procurement of new projects, as well as the overall performance of the assets.
Before joining Meridian Property Company, Mr. Conn worked in commercial brokerage at CB Richard Ellis, where he specialized in selling and leasing industrial and flex/office products. He has also worked as a developer with Catellus and ProLogis, and as a general contractor with Turner Construction Company.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Conn has over five million square feet of projects with a value of nearly $2 Billion. The projects range from major value-add repositioning in dense urban infill markets to ground-up master-planned centers with parking structure development. Projects include complicated parcel assemblages, complex entitlements, and environmental remediation. Some notable ambulatory healthcare and life science facilities include radiation/medical oncology, dialysis, biopharmaceutical manufacturing, cGMP clean room, R&D Lab, and primary, and specialty medical and dental. His clients include major healthcare providers, such as Sutter, Stanford, John Muir, UCSF, HCA, DaVita, Satellite, Northwest Medical Center, CHS, Kaiser, Providence, Simon Med, Banner, McKesson, AltaMed, Amgen, and Baxter.
Mr. Conn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara and is a licensed California Real Estate Broker, a General Contractor (California and Arizona), and LEED Accredited Professional.
