George M. Marcus is the Co-Founder and Chairman of Marcus & Millichap Company. Founded in 1971, Marcus & Millichap Company is the parent company of a diversified group of real estate service, investment, and development firms including SummerHill Homes, one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s largest home builders. Also falling under the Marcus & Millichap family of companies are Pacific Urban Residential, SummerHill Apartment Communities, Meridian Property Company, Hanover Financial and Marcus & Millichap Tech Ventures, which invests in real estate technology companies. Mr. Marcus is also the Founder and Chairman of Essex Property Trust (ESS) and Marcus & Millichap, Inc. (MMI), both publicly traded companies. In April of 2014, ESS acquired BRE, making it a $16 billion company, and is now traded on the S&P 500. MMI went public in October of 2013 and is the largest commercial investment real estate brokerage firm in the nation with nearly 1600 brokers in offices nationwide and in Canada.
Mr. Marcus’ professional memberships include the Real Estate Roundtable, Urban Land Institute and the University of California Berkeley Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics, as well as numerous other professional and community organizations, including International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), United Religions Initiative (URI), Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) and Fuse Corps. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the UCSF Foundation, is an Emeritus Board Member of the Corporation of Fine Arts Museums (COFAM) where he served on the development committee that built the de Young Museum in San Francisco, he was one of the founders of Greater Bay Bancorp and sat on its Board of Directors until it was acquired by Wells Fargo, and is a Regent Emeritus of the University of California.
Mr. Marcus graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from San Francisco State University in 1965, was honored as Alumnus of the Millennium in 1999 and received his honorary doctorate in 2011. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School President’s Management Program and the Georgetown University Leadership Program.
William A. Millichap, co-founder of Marcus & Millichap Company, has served as a board member and the managing director of Marcus & Millichap Company since 1985 and was president of Marcus & Millichap Company from 1986 to 2000. Additionally, Mr. Millichap has served as Marcus & Millichap’s (MMI) co-chairman since 2000 and also acts in an advisory capacity to Marcus & Millichap (MMI). Mr. Millichap served as MMI’s president from 1986 to 2000 and was also the managing partner of Marcus & Millichap Venture Partners (now known as MMC Tech Ventures). Mr. Millichap also served on the Board of Directors of Essex Property Trust from 1994 to 2009, and LoopNet, Inc. from 1999 to 2008. In addition, Mr. Millichap was one of the founders of San Jose National Bank and The Mid Peninsula Bank of Commerce, where he served on the Board of Directors. Mr. Millichap also served on the Board of Directors of the National Multi Housing Council and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Urban Land Institute, and the National Venture Capital Association. Mr. Millichap received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Maryland and served as an officer in the United States Navy. Mr. Millichap has substantial business and real estate industry expertise due to various leadership roles. He has extensive knowledge of the Company, over 40 years of experience working in the real estate industry, and significant experience serving on the boards of public companies.
Mr. Kennis serves as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Marcus & Millichap Company. He has over 25 years of experience in real estate law, including Bronson, Bronson and McKinnon and Consolidated Capital. Mr. Kennis is responsible for legal matters, corporate compliance and risk management. He is a graduate of the University of California and received his J.D. from the University of California at Davis and a LLM from New York University. Additionally, Mr. Kennis is a member of the California Bar.
Mr. Lorenz acts as Chief Investment Officer of Marcus & Millichap Company and his role involves him in the investment activities of all of MMC’s operating companies. Mr. Lorenz first joined MMC in 1997 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Marcus & Millichap Company, he was CFO for Bedford Property Investors, a publicly traded REIT that owns office and industrial properties in the Western United States.
Mr. Bedrosian serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Marcus & Millichap Company and is responsible for overseeing the entire finance function, including accounting, capital markets, taxation, and treasury. He also serves as a member of the Company’s Investment Committee. Mr. Bedrosian has significant experience within the real estate investment banking community and has acted as a strategic advisor to many private and public companies within the sector. Prior to joining Marcus & Millichap Company, he was the Chief Financial Officer at Ramco-Gershenson Properties Trust, a publicly-traded REIT, and served as the Managing Director in the Global Real Estate Investment Banking Group at Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc. Mr. Bedrosian earned a B.S. in Finance and Administration from Mercy College and an M.S. in Real Estate and Finance from New York University.
Ms. de Mesa is the Director of Human Resources for Marcus & Millichap Company. She serves as the head of the Human Resources Department for all operating companies and manages the Company’s reputable Venture Associate Program. She has over 15 years of experience in Human Resources from companies within the San Francisco Bay Area including AMB/Prologis. Additionally, she spent several years in HR Operations/Shared Services, Employee Relations and Talent Development. She earned an MS degree in Human Resources Management from Golden Gate University where she also served as an Adjunct Professor in MS Human Resources Management for over ten years.

Mr. Pace is Vice-chairman and CEO of Pacific Urban Residential (formerly Pacific Property Company), a subsidiary of Marcus & Millichap Companies. He is a graduate of the University of San Francisco and a Certified Public Accountant (inactive). His early career began with the ‘Big 4’ accounting firm of KPMG where his client base included banks, savings & loans, state municipalities and companies within the oil & gas sector. An interest in computers and database technology led to the 1983 founding of CMR Search, among the earliest firms to develop and utilize human resource software databases.
Mr. Pace spent fourteen years with multifamily pension fund advisor SSR Realty Advisors (now BlackRock) and its predecessor configurations (Fox, Metric, etc.) culminating in the position of Managing Director, National Acquisitions. Pension advisory clients included CalPERS, CalSTRS, the Alaska Permanent Fund, City and County of San Francisco, Colorado PERA and others. While at SSR Realty Advisors, he authored the strategy and model for the firm’s first Apartment Value Fund, a successful fund series that continues at Blackrock to this day.
Since 1986, Mr. Pace has been both an investment advisor and principal in the acquisition of apartment communities totaling more than 32,000 units and $8.5 billion. Mr. Pace is a member and Executive Director of the National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC), an Advisory Board Member of the Fisher Center Policy Advisory Board, a board member for Presidio Bank and sits on the Multifamily Blue Council of the Urban Land Institute.
Mr. Gardner is President of Pacific Urban Residential (‘PUR;’ formerly Pacific Property Company), a subsidiary of Marcus & Millichap Companies. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operational functions of the firm, Mr. Gardner is also responsible for PUR’s investment and disposition activity, contributes to the overall strategic direction of the company and is a member of the Investment Committee. He holds a BS from Babson College and an MBA from the University of Miami. Since joining PUR in 1999, Mr. Gardner has also held the position of Acquisition Director, Acquisition Manager and Acquisitions / Due Diligence Analyst. During his career, Mr. Gardner has been responsible for the acquisition and disposition of over $3 billion of multifamily properties. Early in his career, Mr. Gardner conducted financial and strategic analysis of new business ventures as a Corporate Finance Associate with The Marcus and Millichap Company and held a position with the investment banking firm Morgan Stanley.
Robert Freed, CEO SummerHill Housing Group: SummerHill Homes & SummerHill Apartment Communities. Robert oversees critical areas of development for residential, and apartment communities. Currently, Robert is leading 32 projects representing over 6,500 units in the Bay Area, Southern California, and Washington.

Mr. Neighbor is President of SummerHill Homes. A second-generation homebuilder, Mr. Neighbor started his career in the family business and brings more than 20 years of experience to his role at SummerHill Homes. Mr. Neighbor joined SummerHill Homes in 2008 and is responsible for the company’s homebuilding operations including: land acquisition, finance, purchasing, construction, customer service, sales, and marketing. Prior to becoming President, Mr. Neighbor was Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President for SummerHill Housing Group where he oversaw acquisitions for both SummerHill Homes and SummerHill Apartment Communities.
Before joining SummerHill Homes, Mr. Neighbor served as Vice President of Investment Management for MacFarlane Partners in San Francisco, where he was responsible for oversight of the firm’s single- family residential, land and housing developments. Mr. Neighbor has also served in various capacities for KB Home. For example, he was Vice President of Acquisitions, Planning and Development for KB’s Central Valley Division and prior to that role, he was Manager of Acquisitions for KB’s Bay Area Division. He has also overseen home-building projects in the San Francisco Bay Area and Squaw Valley, Calif. Mr. Neighbor, who earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management from California State University, Chico, is a licensed real estate broker in California. He also serves on the Regional Board of the BIA Bay Area and on the Board of Directors for HomeAid Northern California.
Mr. McDonald is the President of SummerHill Apartment Communities. As President, he is directly responsible for Land Acquisition, Entitlements, Design/Construction, Asset Management, Asset Disposition and Capital Markets. Mr. McDonald has been with SummerHill for over 19 years. Before assuming the role of President, Mr. McDonald was the COO and CFO for SummerHill Apartment Communities and CFO for SummerHill Homes. As CFO, he secured nearly $2 Billion in construction debt and equity capital.
Prior to joining SummerHill, Mr. McDonald was Manager of Strategy and Business Architecture for Accenture in San Francisco. Mr. McDonald was also Division Controller for Pulte Homes and Supervising Senior Accountant for KPMG Peat Marwick, both of Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. McDonald holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration – Finance and a Master of Accounting degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. McDonald also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan, where he graduated with distinction and received the annual Innovation Award.
Mr. Yarmolinsky joined Hanover REI as its President and Chief Executive Officer in 2017. In this role, he has oversight responsibility for all operating activities of the Company. Mr. Yarmolinsky previously served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Marcus Millichap Company, the parent company of Hanover. He joined Marcus and Millichap in 2005 and was responsible for overseeing the entire finance function of MMC, including real estate finance, accounting, taxation and treasury. Since 2010, Mr. Yarmolinsky has also served on MMC’s Board of Directors and Investment Committee.
Prior to joining Marcus and Millichap Company, Mr. Yarmolinsky worked in public accounting at Burr, Pilger and Mayer, where he began his career in 1999. Mr. Yarmolinsky received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco and holds a Master of Science from Golden Gate University. Mr. Yarmolinsky is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and a full member of ULI.
John Pollock is Chief Executive Officer of Meridian, a Marcus and Millichap subsidiary. He is responsible for the vision, growth and profitability of Meridian. John directs the company’s strategy and manages operations, including development, sales, marketing, asset management and finance. Prior to his appointment as CEO, John was Chief Operating Officer of the company.
With more than 20 years of knowledge shaped by a wide range of experiences in commercial and residential real estate development, John has proven his ability to lead, develop and manage projects of any size. Prior to joining Meridian in 2006, John served as General Manager for national home builder Centex Homes where he was responsible for all land development, construction and sales in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
From 1997 to 2003, John served as Vice President of Bovis Lend Lease, a leading international project management and construction company operating in more than thirty countries. At Bovis John’s responsibilities included managing finance, project controls and risk management and he was involved in a wide range of transactions in size, scope and geography. Notable developments included: Santana Row in San Jose, CA, Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco, CA, Lincoln Square in Bellevue, WA and the Privatization of Fort Hood Family Housing in Killeen, TX.
John is a Certified Public Accountant and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from St. Mary’s College. He is a member of Urban Land Institute and sits on the ULI Health Care and Life Science Council.
